Performances for all age groups have been incorporated into the Surrey rankings. All the field card details for both day's events have been added. This means that every jump and every throw from the championships is available to view.
John Brett passed away on 17th May 2023. John was a sprints coach at Mitcham AC back in the 1960s. Later he became a timekeeper and was a regular volunteer at Surrey County Championships.
Competing in the USATF Grand Prix Meeting at Los Angeles on 27th May 2023 Katie Snowden (Herne Hill H) set a new record of 4:00.04. This improved the previous record of 4:02.32 set by Shireen Bailey (Bromley Ladies) in Seoul, Korea at the 1988 Olympics. This places her sixth on the UK All-time listings.
(25) EA SENIOR & UNDER-20 COMBINED EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIPS, SPORTCITY, MANCHESTER 27/28 MAY 2023
SURREY 1-2 IN UNDER-20 WOMEN HEPTATHLON Bryony Bovell (Guildford & Godalming) and Sophie Doherty (Basingstoke & Mid Hants) were 1st and 2nd respectively in the U20W Heptathlon with their scores of 5148 points and 4845 points.
(26) NEW SURREY SENIOR WOMEN 100M RECORD
Competing in the Open Meeting at the Community Track, Stratford on 29th May 2023 Imani Lansiquot (Sutton & District) set a new record of 11.03. Earlier in the day she ran 11.06 which also beat the previous record. She had set the previous record of 11.09 in June 2019. This retains her third place on the UK All-time listings.
Representing Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the European Team Championships held in Chorzow, Poland 24th June 2023 Jade Ive (Sutton & District) set a new Surrey Pole Vault record of 4.50m. This was an improvement on the previous record of 4.35 which she held jointly with Janine Whitlock. This places Jade 6th on the UK All-time listings.
(31) ENGLISH SCHOOLS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, BIRMINGHAM, 30TH JUNE - 1ST JULY 2023
Surrey athletes had a successful two days. In the individual events we have been able to identify 7 gold medal winners, 9 silver medal winners and 5 bronze medal winners. Please let us know if we have omitted any body.
(33) NEW SURREY BEST PERFORMANCE FOR UNDER-15 BOYS 100M
Competing in the UKDL Meeting at Crawley on 8th July 2023 Farrell Fabusiwa (Croydon H) was timed at 10.9 for the 100 metres. This time is faster than the existing record of 10.91/+0.7 set in 2014 by Tyrese Johnson (Croydon H). As the performance was set without a wind-speed reading it can not be a new record but will be shown as an addendum in the current list of Surrey County Records.

VICTORIES ON DAY 1 FOR MORGAN LAKE (HJ) & LAWRENCE OKOYE (DT)
VICTORIES ON DAY 2 FOR JESSIE KNIGHT (400mH), KATIE SNOWDEN (1500m) & JADE LALLY (DT)
Morgan Lake (WSEH) won the High Jump with a clearance of 1.90m. Lawrence Okoye won the Discus with a throw of 61.68m. Jessie Knight (WSEH) won the 400m Hurdles with a time of 54.97.
Katie Snowden (HHH) won the 1500m with a time of 4:09.86.
Jade Lally (TVH) won the Discus with a throw of 60.13m. (NOTE. This is the 8th time that Jade has won this title - her first win was in 2010).
(35) EUROPEAN UNDER-23 TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS, ESPOO, FINLAND, 12TH-16TH JULY 2023
BRONZE MEDAL FOR WILL BARNICOAT
Competing in the 5000m Final on 14th July Will Barnicoat (Aldershot, Farnham & District) finished third with a personal best time of 13:45.24.
James Hanson (Woking) was 3rd in the second of five heats of the 200m. His time of 21.12/+0.1 meant that he qualified for the semi-finals. In the first semi=final James placed 5th with a time of 21.37/-3.2 and just missed out on a place in the final.
Competing in the Schools International fixture held at Grangemouth on 15th July 2023 Issay Stamp (South London Harriers) set a new Surrey Under-17 3kg Shot record of 14.82m. This was an improvement on the previous record of 14.50m which was set by Michella Obijiaku (Herne Hill Harriers) in 2014.
Competing in the Diamond League fixture held at the London Stadium on 23rd July 2023 Katie Snowden (Herne Hill Harriers) set a new Surrey Senior 800m record of 1:58.00. This was an improvement on the previous record of 1:58.97 which was set by Shireen Bailey (Bromley Ladies) in 1987. This places Katie 9th on the UK All-time listings and is the 2nd Surrey outdoor record she has set in 2023 (she also set new indoor Mile & 1500m records in February).
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maurice Joyce, who passed away peacefully in hospital on 28th July 2023. He joined Surrey AC in 1975 and subsequently became a member of Kingston AC & Polytechnic Harriers. He took on the role of Organiser for the Surrey Masters Championships in addition to his many club activities.

The winning performances by Casielle Murray (Croydon Harriers) in the 100m and 200m in addition to being Meeting Records of 12.54/+1.5 and 25.60/+1.4 they were also the fastest times for these events recorded by a Surrey Under-13 Girl. The previous fastest times were 12.6 set by Janis Walsh (Mitcham AC) in 1972 and 25.7 set by Donna Fraser (Croydon H) in 1985.
Competing in the Be Fit Today Track Academy Outdoor Series Meeting at Lee Valley on 29th July 2023 Farrell Fabusiwa (Croydon H) was timed at 21.91/+1.5 for the 200 metres. This time is faster than the previous record of 22.13/+1.3 set in 2017 by Jaleel Roper (Hercules Wimbledon).
