(42) IAAF WORLD YOUTH (U18) CHAMPIONSHIPS, CALI, COLOMBIA, 15-19 JULY 2015
Congratulations to the following Surrey athletes who have been selected to represent GB&NI:-
100m Rechmial Miller (Hercules Wimbledon)
Decathlon - Sam Talbot (Exeter H)
100m Hurdles Hope Sarti (Guildford & Godalming).
100M BRONZE FOR RECHMIAL MILLER. On the first day Rechmial won the UK's first medal of the championships. Hope qualified for the 100m Hurdles semi-finals. Sam was going well in the Decathlon until disappointing High Jump followed by disqualification for a lane infringement in the 400m; however, he continued on to complete the second day.
Hope finished 7th in her semi-final. Despite his disappointments on the first day Sam had a good second day with personal bests in 110m Hurdles, Pole Vault & Javelin.
(43) EUROPEAN JUNIOR (UNDER-20) CHAMPIONSHIPS, ESKILSTUNA, SWEDEN, 16-19 JULY 2015
GOLD MEDALS FOR IMANI LANSIQUOT & MORGAN LAKE. Imani ran the 4th leg in the 4x100m relay where GB won both their heat and the final. Morgan cleared 1.91m to win the Women's High Jump final.

Congratulations to the U13 girl's Surrey team for winning the U13 Inter-Counties match on Sunday, 26 July and to the boys team for their second place. A very close competition for all the teams. I would also like to say congratulations to the team managers for all their hard work with the two teams. Very well done.

Competing at the London Inter-Club Challenge Meeting held on 1st August 2015 at Hendon, Sophie Mace (Walton AC) set a new record for the 3kg Hammer Throw of 54.37m. This was an improvement upon the previous record of 53.54m which she set at the Surrey Championships in May 2015.
Ted passed away peacefully on August 15th at 92 - a great innings. Many people have reason to be grateful to Ted. He was made a Life Member of the Surrey County Athletic Association in recognition of his service to county athletes. Ted was a masseur for the British team. Athletes used to go to his home in Motspur Park where he treated them for no charge.
(50) SURREY SENIOR WOMEN HAMMER RECORD
Competing at the Southern Athletics League Meeting on 15th August 2015 at Kingsmeadow, Pippa Wingate (Kingston AC & Polytechnic Harriers) set a new record for the 4kg Hammer Throw of 57.03m. This was an improvement upon the previous record of 56.64m which she set in June 2015. Then on 23rd August 2015 at the St. Mary's Richmond Open meeting held at Twickenham she improved the record again with a throw of 58.69m.
Competing at the South of England Under-15 & Under-17 Championships held on 15/16 August 2015 at Ashford, Sophie Mace (Walton AC) set a new record for the 1kg Discus Throw of 47.35m. The previous record of 45.72m was set in 1990 by Sarah Winckless (Epsom & Ewell) who subsequently represented Great Britain at the Olympics as a rower.
On Saturday, 29th August the IAAF held some Masters events. In the Women's W50 400m Sally Read-Cayton (Reigate Priory AC) won with a time of 60.05 and Virginia Mitchell (Guildford & Godalming AC) came second with a time of 60.81.
Martyn Rooney set a new Surrey record in the heats of the 400m. His time of 44.45 was an improvement on the previous record of 44.60 which he set set in Beijing at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Competing at the Crawley AC Open on 31st August 2015 starting at 12:15pm, Sam Mace (Walton AC) set a new record for the Under-15 Boys 4kg Hammer Throw of 59.87m. Competing at the Tonbridge AC Open Meeting on 31st August 2015 starting at 3pm, James Lancaster (Blackheath & Bromley) threw the Under-15 Boys 4kg Hammer a distance of 59.20m. Both throws were an improvement upon the previous record of 57.68m which was set by Sam at the English Schools Championships in July 2015. Given the timings of the events, Sam never lost his position as Surrey record holder.

(59) SURREY TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS PART 2, DWLC, CARSHALTON, 12/13TH SEPTEMBER 2015
This meeting was the Surrey County Championships for Combined Events, Steeplechases, Track Walks & Track Relays. It was held in conjunction with Sussex.
It is with regret that we have to announce the passing of our Past President Ken Best at the age of 91.
Before moving to Horsham, after retiring, he was, for many years, a stalwart with the Surrey Walking Club and Civil Service association.
